ciao

It's been a while, but Maggie and I have both been busy juggling uni, work, friends, and being the generally chill (lazy) people we are. Here are some more highly saturated and over exposed photographs to make up for my lack of digital/photography skills (yey!).

For almost six months now, I've been interning at stylestalker, and I'm quite sad to say that it's almost time to say goodbye. With the type of attention span that I've got, I immediately set out finding my next internship. Luckily for me, Natasha at Breakfast With Audrey has invited me to contribute to the online fashion site weekly, and you can check out my first post here. Let me know your thoughts!

Wearing vintage Ralph Lauren denim jacket, BDG striped shirt and ribcage necklace from Urban Outfitters, H&M studded waistband skirt, Sportsgirl bracelets and hair piece, Mimco watch and my mum's old boots from Belle.

Terry Richardson x Lady Gaga

What happens when two true mavericks join forces? A MIND-BLOWING work of art worthy of your coffee table. No, but really – Lady Gaga and Terry Richardson have collaborated on a photo book to be released by Grand Central Publishing on November 2. The publication, aptly named LADY GAGA, features over 350 colour and black and white photographs of the iconic pop star. Renowned photographer Richardson was given an exclusive all-access pass to Gaga for ten months, with the stalking (just kidding) officially kicking off at Lollapalooza in August last year and concluding in February at the final shows of Gaga’s Monster Ball tour. The 100 000 captured moments document both her personal and professional life, both raw and intimate, a so-called ‘visual dialogue’ between the two artists.

According to Grand Central Publishing, “This remarkable collaboration between Lady Gaga and Terry Richardson… will be one of the most stunning, provocative and coveted books of the 2011 holiday season.” (via Propagaga)

It isn’t the first time that that Lady Gaga and Terry Richardson have collaborated. Neither strangers to controversy, their joint project is bound to send sparks flying. While you’re on your toes, why not take a look at their more memorable collaborations:

Josh Goot x ASOS

As a broke uni student, it really isn’t often that I can indulge in the luxury of decking myself out in the latest designer wear. Sure, staple home-grown brands like One Teaspoon and Sportsgirl aren’t too shabby, but why settle for less when you can get your fashionable fingers on the wares of Josh Goot? For a second time, Australian prince of print has teamed up with British online retail giant ASOS. Exclusive to ASOS is the capsule collection of twelve very wearable pieces, featuring his signature digital geometric prints in brilliant, vital colours and chic, clean cuts in classic black.

paradise

Finally time for another outfit post - done hurriedly in Maggie's cute little room. After lots of fiddling with the flash and pursuing the little light we had on a Sunday evening, we managed to produce these lovely highly exposed and saturated shots of Maggie.

Wearing: Alpaca wool knit cardigan by DL, grey sweatshirt from General Pants and black supre skirt.

The Kids Aren't Alright

All eyes are on the Murdochs, the media is eagerly awaiting the next chapter in the phone hacking saga, while in the horn of Africa something momentous is taking place. Famine is spreading, and people are dying from starvation - something that shouldn't be happening in this day and age while we are sitting in our comfortable bourgeois homes, swamped by updates on the News of the World scandal. As hunger strikes, thousands of Somalians are escaping on foot each day to the world's largest refugee camp in Kenya. With eleven million suffering from the effects of a drought-related food crisis, how can we not question the validity of the avalanche of coverage concerning the Murdoch family? Yes, it is important, but does it not pale in comparison to what would be the equivalent of half the Australian population facing starvation, amongst them two million malnourished children?

With famine officially declared in South Somalia, Unicef chief, David Bull, unable to withstand the media's perverse prioritising, finally spoke out. Buying out full page spreads in local UK newspapers, Bull inserted an advertisement in the form of an open letter.

"I am writing to ask for your support in moving the news agenda on.
The story about phone hacking does matter, but there’s another, far bigger and vital story that’s going under-reported."
As a citizen of not just our own country, but the world, we have a responsibility to act now, because:
